Dear Maintainer,

The KMS code for the 82830 graphics chip has been problematic evr since its
introduction. Sometimes, booting works and Xorg's `intel' driver works as
well, but resume (from suspend or hibernate) typically doesn't and just
locks up the machine. So I have changed /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf
to say modeset=0 and this works OK (not great, but OK: it uses the fbdev
driver, i.e. not as nice as the old Xorg intel driver with the non-KMS
modeset which provided acceleration and xrandr support).

Or rather this worked OK with 2.6.32 and even 3.2.0-2-686-pae
(package linux-image-3.2.0-2-686-pae version 3.2.12-1), but with
3.2.0-3, the system locks up during boot. The last message on console
is not always the same, but among the last few lines, there's always

fb: conflicting fb hw usage inteldrmfb vs VESA VGA - removing generic driver

Given my earlier experience with the problematic KMS code, I suspected
that this was the culprit, so I booted with "modprobe.blacklist=i915"
and indeed, the machine booted fine (and the above message did not appear
in the boot log).

So, this is a regression in i915 which now freezes the machine even
with "modeset=0".

	Stefan
