Bug#687927: firmware-realtek: Missing rtl8411-1.fw and rtl8402-1.fw
Package: firmware-realtek
Version: 0.36
Followup-For: Bug #687927
I've downloaded the latest firmware from the upstream git repository
and now the network works:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git;a=summary
Ben, do you think that realtek-firmware in testing could be updated to
add support for this network card?
Just to help the casual reader, here it is what i've done:
- From the compressed upstream archive i've extraceted the following
firmware from the rtl_nic folder (those requested by the curses
interface) to /root/:
rtl8402-1.fw
rtl8411-1.fw
- Under /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/ i've created symlinks to the files
extracted under /root/. Doing this i can visually recognize what i've
customized, helping restoring the original state.
- Reinstalled the latest kernel from experimental.
