Package: src Version: 3.2.20-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? After upgrading kernel and kde over the week-end (July 22nd most likely) on my Wheezy system, the i915 GPU hangs when I lock the screen under KDE and leave the system running for > ~ 10 minutes or more. Trying to find the issues I've disabled screen dimming and stand-by in KDE's settings. When unlocking the screen the plasma toolbar is gone and keyboard input does not work under X/KDE anymore, so far the only soultion I found was to either restart KDE (kdm) or reboot the system. Before upgrading the kernel to 3.2.20 this did not happen at all. I'll attach the debugfs error log from the i915 when I have proper access again. Any other information which might be useful for you? Cheers Carsten PS: If this is xserver*i915 related please reassign. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 3.2.0-2-amd64 (Debian 3.2.20-1) (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Debian 4.6.3-7) ) #1 SMP Mon Jun 11 17:24:18 UTC 2012 ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-2-amd64 root=UUID=ed4335a7-d196-425c-9d27-de5c41eb6a1e ro quiet quiet i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [15168.835120] pciehp 0000:00:1c.3:pcie04: pciehp_resume ENTRY [15168.835128] pciehp 0000:00:1c.4:pcie04: pciehp_resume ENTRY [15168.835132] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.0: power state changed by ACPI to D0 [15168.835134] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.0: power state changed by ACPI to D0 [15168.835138] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 [15168.835143] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.0: setting latency timer to 64 [15168.835167] usb usb5: root hub lost power or was reset [15168.835178] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.1: PCI INT B -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17 [15168.835184] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.1: setting latency timer to 64 [15168.835208] usb usb6: root hub lost power or was reset [15168.835219] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.2: PCI INT C -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18 [15168.835224] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.2: setting latency timer to 64 [15168.835248] usb usb7: root hub lost power or was reset [15168.835259] ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: power state changed by ACPI to D0 [15168.835263] ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: power state changed by ACPI to D0 [15168.835268] ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: PCI INT D -> GSI 19 (level, low) -> IRQ 19 [15168.835274] ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: setting latency timer to 64 [15168.835299] pci 0000:00:1e.0: setting latency timer to 64 [15168.835310] ahci 0000:00:1f.2: setting latency timer to 64 [15168.835366] sdhci-pci 0000:15:00.2: PCI INT C -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18 [15168.835368] sdhci-pci 0000:15:00.2: Will use DMA mode even though HW doesn't fully claim to support it. Version: 3.2.21-3 Hi, Carsten Aulbert wrote: > I've been running the 3.4.4-1~experimental.1 for more than a week > without problems and when linux-image-3.2.0-3-amd64 (3.2.21-3) came out, > I reverted to that one and so far (after another week), no GPU lock ups > anymore. > > So, without looking at the detailed kernel logs, I think the problem > simply disappeared (or was fixed by another Wheezy upgrade during that > time). There were a few i915 fixes in 3.2.21: ded8ea3e6906 drm/i915: fix up ivb plane 3 pageflips a1550894983f drm/i915: Unpin the flip target if we fail to queue the flip 3b63a9269754 drm/i915: hold forcewake around ring hw init 71583724d282 drm/i915: Mark the ringbuffers as being in the GTT domain That top one doesn't affect your card, but it's quite possible one of the others fixed it. Thanks for the quick testing and feedback. Closing optimistically, but if it happens again, please don't hesitate to let us know. Ciao, Jonathan
