Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.26-8
Severity: normal
File: /lib/modules/2.6.26-1-amd64/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ath5k/ath5k.ko

Suspend to RAM used to work great on this laptop, but after a recent
kernel upgrade, the wireless (AR5424) stops working and doesn't start
working again until the computer is shut down cold. A regular reboot
is not enough.

When it's in this state I see messages like this in the kernel log:
 ath5k phy0: calibration timeout (2422MHz)
 ath5k phy0: ath5k_chan_set: unable to reset channel (2422 Mhz)
wlan0: failed to set freq to 2422 MHz for scan
wlan0: failed to set freq to 2427 MHz for scan
wlan0: failed to set freq to 2432 MHz for scan
... long list of similar messages ...
wlan0: failed to restore operational channel after scan

repeating over and over until the cold shutdown.

I'm pretty sure this is not the same as bug 462711, because that one
involves a different rev of the hardware, and my hardware has worked
just fine with 2.6.26 until very recently. I would be suspicious of
this change in 2.6.26-7:

  * ath5k: Fix bad udelay calls on AR5210 code (Nick Kossifidis).

which happened at about the right time. It's not *labeled* as relevant
to AR5424, but it sounds like the sort of thing that could screw up
other hardware. When I get a chance I'll back down to 2.6.26-6 and see
if the problem goes away.
