Bug#677475: Sun Fire X4140 with NVIDIA Corporation MCP55 Ethernet cards and bridge interface resets on boot

Prerequisites: We are running 3 Sun Fire X4140 with 'NVIDIA
Corporation MCP55 Ethernet' ethernet cards. So far they where running
on 2.6.39-3~bpo60+1-3. We updated the kernel to 3.2.18-1~bpo60+1 and
now always get a hardware reset when configuring the network. On next
reboot then BIOS shows 'Hyper-Transport Sync Flood Error'.

The hardware should not be damaged, as we see this behaviour on every
of the 3 servers.

This has to be specified. If we poweroff the machine and boot the
3.2.18 kernel then it resets the hardware when configuring the
networking. If we boot the 2.6.39-3~bpo60+1-3 kernel and then reboot
the machine with the 3.2.18-1~bpo60+1 then all works fine.

We use a bridged interface (one for testing is now configured only
with one interface, the other two are used as kvm hosting hosts), the
configuration is as follows:

We have found that if we add a 'pre-up /sbin/ifconfig eth0 up' to the
br0 configuration then the machine boots correctly. Thus we suspect
that the ethernet hardware is not initialized correctly.

Due to time constriants I was not able to do a bisect, but did some
testing with different kernels from snapshot.debian.org to try to
isolate where the behaviour/problem appears.

Here a list of my testing:

3.2.20-1 from unstable: resets the machine on boot
3.1.0-1-experimental.1: resets the machine on boot
3.0.0-2-amd64 (3.0.0-6 package version): works fine

The attached dmesg is from a boot with working kernel.
