After looking up the setting, I had assumed that was your concern. However, it seems to me that if it is currently on, then forcing it to "off" might possibly help with the issues with this card. Power management has caused a lot of issues on Linux over the years. Unfortunately, "default" doesn't tell me which state it is actually in.
