Does running the following commands help? echo profile>/sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_method echo low>/sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile See [1] for some details on that. Presumably some day dynpm will be the default.
Unfortunately, those commands don't help, I tried them before several times.
Also, what kernel do you use these days? Please attach full "dmesg" output from booting.
Well, currently I use an Ubuntu 12.04 pre-release with kernel 3.2.0-15-generic with the Catalyst driver (I wish I didn't have to...), but if it helps, I could still do a boot with the radeon driver if that helps.
