Bug#605210: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: cdrom stops working
> Was this a regression?
I tested this by booting off a couple of live cds of debian 5.09 (it must have
worked back then) and 6.03. The live cds work on another computer, but didn't
get much beyond the boot menu here. A newer kernel (3.2) was also no help.
It now seems most likely that the drive itself is broken (and that I have lots
of broken drives). If a new drive works I won't be chasing this further. Sorry
for the noise.
Best regards,
Boris
