The old in-kernel idmapper seems to be effectively deprecated. To use the new idmapper, it looks we will require that: 1. keyutils supports a configuration directory (/etc/request-key.d) 2. nfs-common installs the necessary fragment in that directory and depends on the appropriate version of keyutils (recommends would be better but otherwise upgrades may break). Also, since NFSv4 really seems to require idmap, it looks like mounting /usr using NFSv4 won't work until: 3. nfs-common installs nfsidmap and rpc.idmapd in /sbin Does this make sense to you?
