Please provide:

 - version numbers for the newest kernel you know of that did work
   (did not time out) and the oldest and newest kernels you know of
   that didn't.  You can get the upgrade history of kernel packages
   from /var/log/dpkg*

 - full "dmesg" output from booting and trying to scan, as an
   attachment

 - full steps to reproduce the bug (I don't expect they'd be
   complicated, but it's useful to be concrete in case someone with
   similar hardware can reproduce it)

 - "lspci -vvnn" output, as an attachment

 - "lsusb -v" output (or just an excerpt describing your scanner),
   as an attachment

 - any workarounds or weird observations

Julien, if you know of any other USB issues with AMD chipsets, please
feel free to file bugs. :)
