compression options

Yesterday I changed the debug packages to use xz for compression. This
reduces the size of the package from 450 to 250MiB.
Next plan would be to use xz for the main image packages also. It
reduces the size of the packages by 30% or so. It cost only little cpu,
however the memory consumption raises.
The especially space constraint architectures (arm I think) could
convert to using XZ for the image files also. For the rest its simply
30% space less on disks while using some cpu.
