Hi, thank you Jim. I tried but I still have to manually type

  (initramfs)  vgchange -a y

everytime it boots. That's how it looks now /etc/default/grub

  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="scsi_mod.scan=sync rootdelay=35"

any workaround to make this host boot on its own would be appreciated.
