Package: linux-2.6 Version: 3.0.0-3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,when trying to figure out which kernel module might be using IRQ 3 in my Intel D525MW-based system by calling "cat /proc/interrupts", I get the reply "Killed" on the console, and the messages from [ 916.033769] onwards show up in the kernel log. When calling "cat /proc/interrupts" a second time, the system freezes completely, i.e. it ceases reacting on keystrokes an renders itself inresponsive over the network.Background: I'm trying to get lirc_serial running using the board's internal serial connector (port 0x02f8, IRQ 3). However, although I disabled /dev/ttyS1 using "setserial /dev/ttyS1 uart none" (which by "setserial -g /dev/ttyS1" gets confirmed to be in effect), lirc_serial complains about port 02f8 being already in use (see [ 30.600691]) and IRQ 3 being busy ([ 34.175622]). Interestingly, "cat /proc/ioports" claims the port in question to be unused (see below), and as for IRQ 3, well... that's the cause for this bug report.Regards -- Torsten ** Output of cat /proc/ioports 0000-0cf7 : PCI Bus 0000:00 0000-001f : dma1 0020-0021 : pic1 0040-0043 : timer0 0050-0053 : timer1 0060-0060 : keyboard 0064-0064 : keyboard 0070-0071 : rtc0 0080-008f : dma page reg 00a0-00a1 : pic2 00c0-00df : dma2 00f0-00ff : fpu 0295-0296 : pnp 00:06 0378-037a : parport0 03c0-03df : vesafb 03f8-03ff : serial 0400-047f : pnp 00:06 0400-0403 : ACPI PM1a_EVT_BLK 0404-0405 : ACPI PM1a_CNT_BLK 0408-040b : ACPI PM_TMR 0410-0415 : ACPI CPU throttle 0420-0420 : ACPI PM2_CNT_BLK 0428-042f : ACPI GPE0_BLK 0500-053f : pnp 00:06 0680-06ff : pnp 00:06 0cf8-0cff : PCI conf1 0d00-ffff : PCI Bus 0000:00 1000-1fff : PCI Bus 0000:01 1000-10ff : 0000:01:00.0 1000-10ff : r8169 2000-201f : 0000:00:1f.3 2000-201f : i801_smbus 2020-203f : 0000:00:1d.3 2020-203f : uhci_hcd 2040-205f : 0000:00:1d.2 2040-205f : uhci_hcd 2060-207f : 0000:00:1d.1 2060-207f : uhci_hcd 2080-209f : 0000:00:1d.0 2080-209f : uhci_hcd 20a0-20af : 0000:00:1f.2 20a0-20af : ata_piix 20b0-20b7 : 0000:00:1f.2 20b0-20b7 : ata_piix 20b8-20bf : 0000:00:1f.2 20b8-20bf : ata_piix 20c0-20c7 : 0000:00:02.0 20c8-20cb : 0000:00:1f.2 20c8-20cb : ata_piix 20cc-20cf : 0000:00:1f.2 20cc-20cf : ata_piix 3000-3fff : PCI Bus 0000:04 4000-4fff : PCI Bus 0000:03 5000-5fff : PCI Bus 0000:02 -- Package-specific info: ** Version:Linux version 3.0.0-1-686-pae (Debian 3.0.0-3) (ben@decadent.org.uk) (gcc version 4.5.3 (Debian 4.5.3-8) ) #1 SMP Sat Aug 27 16:41:03 UTC 2011** Command line: root=/dev/sda1 ro selinux_init=no quiet vga=785 quiet ** Tainted: DC (1152) * Kernel has oopsed before. * Module from drivers/staging has been loaded. ** Kernel log: [ 1.969724] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk [ 1.973608] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 [ 2.828523] EXT3-fs: barriers not enabled [ 2.828780] kjournald starting.
