Orson, did you get a chance to try this (or any other news)?  To be
clear, I meant that it would be useful to try installing a
linux-image-3.<foo> package, along with linux-base and initramfs-tools
from sid or squeeze-backports, keeping the rest of the system as is.

If you're just short on time recently, that's fine, but if e.g. you no
longer have access to the hardware then we should know so we can stop
tracking it.
