Bug#637179: the problem is the package dnet-common and not linux-image...

Hi,
the MAC address is changed by the startup script /etc/init.d/decnet.

The Ethernet lookup service gives me:
AA0004 DEC Local logical address for systems running	Internet Assigned Numbers Authority
AA0004 DIGITAL EQUIPMENT CORPORATION	IEEE Registration Authority

I don't know exactly why I have the package dnet-common in my system :(,
loaded by some dependency probably. Looking on reverse dependencies
I found chain

dnet-common -> libdnet -> libroar1 -> libroar-compat1 -> quicktime-x11utils.

but quicktime-x11utils is from multimedia repository.

I think the default dnet-common configuration is a bug:

bobek:~# debconf-show dnet-common
  dnet-common/nodename: linux
  dnet-common/nodeaddr: 1.10
* dnet-common/configure-action: skip and leave config as it is
  dnet-common/warning:

bobek:~# cat /etc/default/decnet
# DNET_INTERFACES specifies the names of ethernet interfaces whose
# MAC address is to be set to the DECnet node address
DNET_INTERFACES="all"
# DNET_DAEMONS lists the daemons to start when dnet-progs is installed.
#
DNET_DAEMONS="dnetd phoned"
dnroute_FLAGS="-v -2"
# The following two lines enable routing, note that if you are
# being a router, then add dnroute to the DNET_DAEMONS too
#ROUTING=1
PRIORITY=32
bobek:~#

We can reassign the bug against dnet-common package.
Regards
