The /boot/initrd.img-2.6.37-1-amd64 was build using initramfs-tools 0.98.8? Building it with initramfs-tools 0.98.7 fixes your problem? Can you please provide the output of lsinitramfs for /boot/initrd.img-2.6.37-1-amd64 and /boot/initrd.img-2.6.37-1-amd64.working? regards, -mika-
