So far I have not investigated further: it may be something trivial. It
happened on the preceeding version. No trouble on another amd64 system
here. 
I use dpkg -i on this report to avoid the extra complications under
apt-get & aptitude, etc.

/etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux is not part of the kernel package. So no
