What resolution should it be using (1280x1024, from the EDID in the X log)? Could you try booting the kernel in experimental? Without X, since the kernel ABI changed so that won't work anyway, but just loading nouveau.ko should do the modeset dance and either give a black screen or a working console. > Happy New Year!
