issue is fixed with kernel commit c3259c8a7060d480e8eb2166da0a99d6879146b4
same issue has been verified to occur (and be fixed with same commit) on linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood on QNAP TS-119 running Squeeze
same issue has been verified to occur (and be fixed with same commit) on linux-image-2.6.26-2-ixp4xx on Linksys NLSU2 running Lenny

please merge this commit in Debian Lenny and Squeeze kernels
