Bug#599471: linux-image-2.6.32-5-686-bigmem: microphone doesn't work

This suggests that the audio controller is set to record from a
microphone socket ('Mic'), not a built-in microphone ('Front Mic').  Is
that what you want?

Once a job is fouled up, anything done to improve it makes it worse.
