Indeed option PanelSize doesn't seem to be used when KMS is on : the driver probably doesn't mess with what the kernel has (not) detected. Since xrandr allows to add another mode setting, no hope is lost I tend to believe that the radeon X driver may be considered buggy here, then, and PanelSize needs to be processed when with KMS ?
