Nitpick: it interferes with the proprietary driver, not with the card.

It would probably make sense if the nvidia-glx package shipped a file
blacklisting nouveau.

The interesting question is why nvidia.ko does even get loaded (that the
screen goes blank then does not really surprise me).  On my system, it
refuses to load when nouveau is in charge of the card.
