Bug#581527: [linux-2.6] linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 hangs on boot

Package: linux-2.6
Version: linux-image-2.6.32-5-686
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
I've just installed linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 and rebooted my system, but it hangs at startup. No way to make it boot rather than fallback to the old 2.6.32-3.
Please note that there are no logs for this hangs, it seems that it just hanged on startup before being able to mount the root file system, but also before the console initialization as no message was written to the screen.
I consider that this is a grave regression in the sense of the Debian policy but it may also be considered critical as it makes the whore system unusable as it even doesn't boot. Please ensure this version doesn't get into testing.

Cheers,
