Running linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 garbles the screen of this laptop,
both inside and outside of X. It makes the kernel unusable.
Unfortunately, I see nothing in dmesg, /var/log/Xorg.0.log, syslog or
messages that points to the cause ...
This is on a "VGA compatible controller:
ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400"
