Bug#577476: Bug #577476: Additional information

Adding ide_core.cdrom=1.0 and ide_core.nowerr=1.0 to the boot command line did not produce a /dev entry.

A scan using wodim/cdrecord/dvdrecord with the -scanbus option did not locate the drive.

Executing modprobe -v ide_cd and modprobe -v isofs caused no changes in /dev.

I am not familiar with the udev system but as far as I can tell inserting a cdrom produces no events. I ran "udevadm monitor -kernel" and saw no events when I inserted a cdrom. OTOH, I did see events when I attached a USB drive (which was added as /dev/sda).
