I just added init= (to the grub stuff there already), like the panic message said. In
fact the message doesn't say what one should put after the "init=".

OK, now I have verified it on IBM Thinkpad and EEEPC:
initramfs-tools_0.93.4_all.deb #works great
initramfs-tools_0.94_all.deb   #will lock one out of one's system
