I just flashed the BIOS on my NC10 to the latest available version (11CA) from: http://www.samsungpc.com/08/products/nc10/firmware.html#firmware using a freedos usb stick, see: http://smorgasbord.gavagai.nl/2009/05/flash-your-samsung-nc10-bios-from-linux/ not xbacklight works again.
