Package: linux-image-2.6.26-2-686
Version: 2.6.26-19lenny2
Severity: normal

I get very slow connection speeds with this module around 40 KB/s
what should be 700 - 800 KB/s. I connect through a router with WPA encryption.

At first I had the problem that the wlan card set the
speed of the connection to 1 Mb/s. I solved that problem with the
following entry in /etc/network/interfaces:

allow-hotplug wlan0

iface wlan0 inet static

pre-up iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M
wpa-driver wext
wpa-ssid
wpa-psk ""

network 192.168.178.0
address 192.168.178.200
netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 192.168.178.255
gateway 192.168.178.1
dns-nameservers 192.168.178.1

Now it shows 54 MB/s in iwconfig:

wlan0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:""
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: 00:
          Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
          Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B
          Encryption key:2 [2]
          Link Quality=72/100 Signal level=-63 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

It worked for quite a while however lately I can only download with about 40 KB/s.

The rt2500 module build from the package rt2500-source works without problems.

Thanks for help.
