The kernel maintains a list of USB mass storage devices, which are not
fully standards compliant and to which several workarounds are applied
(the list of which are specified in an kernel-internal table).

It appears as if your MP4 player has been matched by this black list
in 2.6.26, but apparently doesn't any longer.

We don't maintain any Debian-specific patches in that blacklist.
Please file this upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org (Product:
Drivers, Component: USB) and send us the bug number.

Thanks,
        Moritz
