Please check whether this is fixed in Linux 2.6.32 (currently in
unstable).

If not, you should report this upstream at <http://bugzilla.kernel.org>,
setting Product to 'ACPI' and Component to 'BIOS'.  Based on previous
reports, I believe you should include this additional information in
your report:

- the output of acpidump
- whether there are any subdirectories under /sys/class/backlight/
- whether the brightness can be changed by writing to the 'brightness'
files under there, e.g.
    echo 5 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

Then please let us know the upstream bug number so we can track it.
