Bug#553596: linux-image-2.6.31-1-amd64: seems to run normally, but then suddenly hangs

Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.31-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

since 2.6.30 (Debian releases 2.6.30-5, 2.6.30-6, 20.6.30-8 and 2.56.30-1)
I am having issues with the kernel on this system:
The kernel boots up normally, runs for a while (sometimes up to 4 or 5 hours)
and then suddenly stops responding.
It does not react to any input, is not reachable via the network, ...
The only action it (sometimes) accepts, is SysRq+B.

Additional information:
* Kernel 2.6.26 and earlier do not show this issue
* Syslog does not contain any entries around the time the system stops responding.
* The CPU belongs to those with the Dual-CPU bug reported for 2.6.30-5.
So, I naturally supposed this to be the cause, but even later releases
  show te issues
* kernel command line contains "noapic" (required for stable operation for ages)
* kernel disables IRQ #7 after some time
(with older, working kernels as well with the new ones that fail)

If you need any more info, please tell, and I wil ltry to gather it.

Thanks for maintaining the Linux kernel in debian
Peter
