Package: linux-image-2.6
Version: 2.6.30-1
Severity: normal

Symptom: MPlayer stuttering on video playback

The symptoms are reproducible and happen frequently when the video data is read via cifs from a server. It's not a cifs problem as the symptoms are also present when the file is stored on the local disk. When reading from a local file it happens every 5-15 seconds that MPlayer skips a few frames. When using cifs it happens more frequently (every 5s).

My custom kernel is not SMP and more SIS specific but this makes no difference to the SMP generic BPO build.

There are no dmesg or syslog entries that are specific for the stuttering.

Should I mention that the 2.6.29 kernel works fine?
