Bug#532049: readlink error in mkinitramfs-kpkg

I am getting this bug (exact same errors) with yesterday's testing
netinst image.
[AMD64, ext4, gpt, bios (not efi), expert install option]

I tried this on tty3 and from the "execute a shell option" and got:
sh: can't open mkinitramfs

from both.

sh -x target/usr/sbin/mkinitramfs -o /tmp/foo
+ umask 0022
+ export PATH=/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin
+ keep=n
+ CONFDIR=/etc/initramfs-tools
+ verbose=n
+ errors_to=2>/dev/null
+ BUSYBOXBIN=/bin
+ getopt -o d:ko:r:v -n target/usr/sbin/mkinitramfs -- -o
/tmp/foo target/usr/sbin/mkinitramfs/: line 14: getopt: not found
+ OPTIONS=
+  [ 127 != 0 ]
+ echo Terminating...
Terminating...
+ exit 1

I am not that familiar with D-I, or the internals of kernel installation,
but I will be happy to provide any additional info that might be needed.

Cheers,
