Package: firmware-nonfree
Severity: wishlist
Version: 0.16

Please add the firmware for the broadcom WLAN bcm43xx series.
The firmware can be found on:
http://mirror2.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2

The firmware has to be extracted with the firmware cutter.

On my notebook with bcm4318, this firmware works fine.

Regards
Bernhard

According to the homepage for b43-fwcutter
<http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware>, "the
firmware from the binary drivers is Copyrighted by Broadcom Corporation
and must not be redistributed." Furthermore, b43-fwcutter extracts
firmware from the object file wl_apsta.o, which as I said before has no
explicit licence attached.

Please do not ask us to distribute firmware without a licence.

Ben.
