I waited for around 10 minutes

Just did that. Not a big help, seems

Dump ftrace buffer
Dumping ftrace buffer
(ftrace buffer empty)

Note that the kernel is still responsive. Ctrl-Alt-Del makes it print some 
messages and reboot. It just seems to stare waiting for something that never 
comes.
