Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-686
Version: 2.6.26-4
Severity: important

My Sony CD-RW/DVD-ROM CRX310S was working file until apt-get upgraded
the kernel from 2.6.25-2 to 2.6.26-1 (Debian testing). The mount-point
/dev/scd0 I was using has completely disappeared; this excerpt from
dmesg seems highly relevant:

  # grep ata2 2.6.25-2.dmesg
  [ 2.193463] ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x970 ctl 0xb70 bmdma 0xe008 irq 21
  [ 3.302216] ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
  [ 3.492641] ata2.00: ATAPI: SONY CD-RW/DVD-ROM CRX310S, VDK2, max UDMA/100
  [ 3.695990] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/100

  # grep ata2 2.6.26-1.dmesg
  [ 2.246140] ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x970 ctl 0xb70 bmdma 0xe008 irq 21
  [ 3.424045] ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
  [ 3.448038] ata2.00: NODEV after polling detection

The following modules get loaded when using 2.6.25-2 but not with 2.6.26-1:

  # diff 2.6.25-2.lsmod-modules 2.6.26-1.lsmod-modules | grep '<'
  < cdrom
  < isofs
  < nls_base
  < rtc_cmos
  < rtc_core
  < rtc_lib
  < sg
  < sr_mod
  < udf
  < zlib_inflate

And these modules get loaded in 2.6.26-1 but not in 2.6.25-2:

  # diff 2.6.25-2.lsmod-modules 2.6.26-1.lsmod-modules | grep '>'
  > dm_log
  > ndiswrapper
  > thermal_sys

However, that appears to be a symptom rather than the cause of the problem
because when I manually modprobe the missing modules, nothing happens.
