Bug#415068: I can reproduce #415068 on a UltraSparc 5 over USB serial adapter

sorry that I didn't answer in time -- you guessed the problem
partially:

Yes, and it's also running Lenny -- the remote dist-upgrade went fine.

But I don't have it on serial console anymore and it's in production
at an offsite location, so difficult to reach and use for
debugging kernel crashes. :-/

I noticed the error when I had the box here to replace the harddisk
and used serial console because I didn't have a 13W3 capable monitor.

At home, I have an UltraSparc 10 (should be the same as UltraSparc 5,
except that it has a VGA graphics card and it's a tower case instead
of a pizza box) running Sid. I could install Lenny kernels and test
with them.

I'm though not sure how much influence the graphics card and using
grub instead of silo will have. At least on kfreebsd, using grub
instead of the freebsd loader caused some differences (until grub had
been fixed).

Do you think it's worth a try anyway? Would Etch kernels still run
with Sid, so that I can cross check?
