The system appears to keep working normally despite the messages.  This is a thinkpad T60p with
2G memory.

I can reproduce this problem on an untainted kernel.  The taint is from the madwifi driver.
This bug has been present in kernels since 2.6.18.

I'm pretty sure this is not due to the particular laptop being broken.  I transferred my drive
into an identical machine and the same problem happens there.
