Hi,

Most probably this bug report is similar to #485692 but this one refers to the
linux-image-2.6.25-2-686-bigmem-package:

Since the 2.6.25-2-686-bigmem has been introduced in Lenny, I have serious trouble to access
my USB storage media (both memory-sticks and USB HDDs, all FAT32 formatted): In all cases
during copying files and directories onto the storage media, an error message pops up reporting
access problems in terms of files or directories can not be created. Switching back to the most
recent 2.6.24-1-686-bigmem proves, that this issue is somehow related to the 2.6.25-2-686-bigmem
kernel. No problems whatsoever with previous kernel versions either.

During all test scenarios the system configuration was identical (USB storage devices, I/F to
which they were connected to, config-files, etc.), only the kernel has been switched. Please
note, that even when I repeatedly copy the same directory onto one and the same device, the
write process fails on different files/directories. Access restrictions have been checked and
are OK. However, I have decided to switch back to 2.6.24 (currently running) as I use the USB
devices for backup purposes.

System: DELL Precision M4300, 4 GB RAM

Kind regards,
Stefan

Thanks, closing the bug, then.

Unfortunately we're lagging behind a bit with the bug handling.

Cheers,
