Sometimes the modem in the cell phone works after plugging in, sometimes does 
not but the bug in the kernel always shows there. If I issue lsusb command, 
it hangs up  (says nothing). This bug is not present in etchnhalf kernel.

I'm marking that kernel as fixed, then. 

Changes to the 2.6.18 kernel at this point are limited to security issues
and critical bugfixes only. I suggest to use the 2.6.24 kernel, it has full
security support.
