Severity: wishlist

Hi,

PREEMPT might be a nice feature for desktop users who reboot their box
3 times a day, but it should be disabled for stability reasons,
especially on the SMP flavours.

This concerns both 2.6.8-i386 and 2.6.10-i386 kernel images.

We should seek a consensus among the kernel team members whether or not
PREEMPT should be enabled, if supported by the corresponding
architecture.

For some concerns, see http://kerneltrap.org/node/2702

Kind regards
Frederik Schueler

Preemption has been disabled for a long time now, closing.
