Package: linux-image-2.6.29-trunk-amd64

Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
markov:~# modprobe -v kvm-intel

FATAL: Error inserting kvm_intel (/lib/modules/2.6.29-trunk-amd64/kernel/arch/x86/kvm/kvm-intel.ko): Operation not supported
markov:~# uname -a
Linux markov 2.6.29-trunk-amd64 #1 SMP Fri Apr 3 00:43:29 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

This appears to render kvm unusable for me, though I am not sure how it is supposed to work.

m-a also won't build modules from kvm-source, though I'm not sure that
should be necessary with recent kernels such as 2.6.29. The
compilation needed some files which were in headers-common rather than
headers-amd64. I have both installed, but they are in different
directories.

The machine has 2 Xeon CPU's with 8 cores each. They have Intel-VT.
