The kernel build needs to have CONFIG_FB_IBM_GXT4500 set to 'y' for this
machine otherwise, despite the console working slowly, the X server will
not work (I have an external driver for the GXT4500 card).

debian/config/powerpc/config:CONFIG_FB_IBM_GXT4500=m

fb is build modular since, thus closing.
