Hi,

I've got a Dell inspiron 530n (the ones sold with ubuntu preinstalled).
Some times, not systematicly (perhaps every third power on and at most reboots), the boot process is blocked 8 to 9 minutes (see attached dmesg for the point of freeze). The keyboard is freezed (Caps or Num LED won't change).

After this random time, the boot process goes on and the system boots up normaly.

I've attached /proc/version, lspci -vvnn, uname -a and 3 dmesg results :
* 20080513_no_options_boot_ok.txt : this is a boot without freeze (it is a result of a hard power off - power on) * 20080513_no_options_8min_freeze_by_high_resolution.txt : this is a boot with freeze * 20080513_option_hpet_9min_freeze_by_check_initramfs.txt : this is a boot with freeze, trying to pass the option clocksource=hpet to the kernel.

The boot options clocksource=hpet or clocksource=acpi_pm do not change the problem.

Thank you for your help. Feel free to ask for details if needed.

Cheers,

Robert Chéramy
