This exact problem is tracked in #504167, it is not yet clear if this is
the same problem.

Can you please try if the -686-bigmem kernel behaves the same. Also you
may, if you know how to do it, try to find out if the upstream 2.6.26.6
is also affected and if yes, bisect the exact problem.
