I use it on a daily basis and this is new to me. But $ busybox mkdir --parents a mkdir: unrecognized option `--parents' you are right. This seems to have been dropped from busybox since etch. There is no entry in the changelog though. mdadm in lenny already uses -p rather than the long options, so if you had upgraded mdadm as well, the problem wouldn't have happened. I agree that this is a problem we should fix in time for lenny, but I can't fix it in mdadm.
