Bug#508493: closed by Bastian Blank <waldi@debian.org> (Re: Bug#508493: [linux-2.6] please package 2.6.27)

reopen 508493
thanks

I'm not sure I understand why you closed the wishlist bug. A freeze, as
I understand it, is not about *never* installing a new version, but
rather *waiting* until the release is made. It's perfectly normal to
have a wishlist bug for a new version--it's not a demand for anything,
still less a request for breaking the freeze--just a note, "hey, this
would be good."

Then, when the release is made, kernel version 2.6.27 (or later) can be
packaged and the wishlist bug closed. That's the point of wishlist
bugs.

There is nothing inappropriate about a bug (wishlist or otherwise) being
filed which cannot be closed during the freeze; the correct response, as
I understand it, is to leave the bug open, perhaps with an email to the
bug log explaining the situation.

But from the exasperated tone of your message, it seems likely that I
have misunderstood what a freeze means. I outline above my
understanding. Can you perhaps elaborate on what I have incorrectly
understood about what a freeze means?

Thomas
