Package: linux-image-2.6-amd64
Version: 2.6.18+6etch3
Severity: important

When I delete whole qdisc with iproute command
# tc qdisc del dev eth0 root
the system locks up.

It locks only on multiprocessor systems. Everything goes fine on systems
with one processor.

More about the bug could be found here:
https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/bugme-new/2007-June/016430.html

I tried Debian testing on the same computer and there it was going fine.

Thanks for help

Hi Jindrich,

this bug was fixed upstream in commit 6b25d30bf112370a12d05c3c0fd43732985dab01
from Patrick McHardy. As such, the patch is present in Linux 2.6.23 onwards,
so it's already fixed in the upcoming Debian Lenny.

For Etch you can use the 2.6.24 based kernel added in the 4.0r4 point release:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/l/linux-2.6.24.html

Cheers,
        Moritz
