Bug#501193: closed by Bastian Blank <waldi@debian.org>

Package: firmware-iwlwifi
Version: 0.13
Followup-For: Bug #501193

Hi, I encountered the same problem as mentioned by the OP. My laptop has
an hardware switch to enable or disable wireless networking. If I boot
my machine while the hardware switch is in "wlan off" position dmesg
will say, that the switch needs to be on to get wireless to work - so
this is quite what it should be. But switching the hardware switch to
"wlan on" doesn't do a thing. Nothing happens, no dmesg entry or other
stuff. Only if the hardware switch says "wlan on" while loading the iwl3945
module (during boot or with modprobe -r | modprobe) the stuff will work.
In this case switching off and on does work like a charm.

With kind regards
Dirk
