Bug#500268: Problem solved by disabling heap randomization

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Hello,

I have compile linux 2.6.26 on my own and disabled heap randomization.
The help page of the config option "Disable heap randomization" says:

CONFIG_COMPAT_BRK:

Randomizing heap placement makes heap exploits harder, but it

also breaks ancient binaries (including anything libc5 based).

This option changes the bootup default to heap randomization

disabled, and can be overriden runtime by setting

/proc/sys/kernel/randomize_va_space to 2.
                                                                     On
non-ancient distros (post-2000 ones) N is usually a safe choice.

Symbol: COMPAT_BRK [=y]

Prompt: Disable heap randomization

Defined at init/Kconfig:646

Location:

- -> General setup

Since it is a libc5 based binary, it is clear now why it doesn't run
anymore with the default configuration.
So I would close this bug or set it to wontfix.
But there should be a note on this problem in the release notes!

Greetings
	Juergen
